Emu House becomes home to eight
Eight new children were welcomed into Tumaini Village with open arms and even wider smiles in March. The youngsters moved into Emu House and have quickly settled into village life with their Mama, Agatha.
“After only a few days the children started to come out of their shells and it was very heart warming to see that happen,” AA4A founder Pat Macpherson said.
“Children from Koala House and Kangaroo House seemed to take the new kids under their wings, with no bidding from the adults.
“Whilst the ideal situation for any child is to be with their parents, the Tumaini children have got as close to an ideal situation as is possible with their surrogate families.”
The five girls and three boys are aged between two and eight years of age. Their arrival brings the number of children in the village to 24.
A record is kept of where each child in the village is from. They are encouraged to visit their extended families regularly to keep those ties in place.
“This will assist them in knowing who they are. We hope that in years to come, they will go back and settle with their own people.”
Orphans enjoy birthday celebration
The children who live at Kangaroo House celebrated their birthdays at a special party in their honour last month.
Nobody knows when any of the children were born, so a birthday celebration will be held every three months where the children from one house are made to feel special.
