Committee
The AA4A committee works with the community in Tanzania, training and guiding local staff and employees to achieve self sustainability. A core belief of AA4A is the importance of empowering Tanzanians. AA4A is represented on the board of the Tumaini for Africa Foundation, a Tanzanian non-government organisation who will eventually take ownership of Tumaini Village.
Patrick Macpherson
Principal and Chairman
Pat founded Aussie Aid for Africa in 2007 after visiting Arusha in 2006. A retired businessman, he has coordinated the establishment of Tumaini Village, travelling there several times a year since his initial visit to Tanzania in 2006.
Jim Phillips
Vice Chairman
Jim Phillips oversees the planning of health and education at Tumaini Village. He has worked in education for many years, as well as with charitable organisations and other voluntary positions. He is looking forward to the challenges this project will offer.
Barry Calnon
Treasurer
Barry is a chartered accountant with more than 15 years experience and is a Partner with Pitcher Partners in Perth. Barry’s sense of community, volunteering and family has been nurtured by his parents, who are both Paul Harris Fellows of Rotary. He has served more than 10 years on his cricket and football (soccer) club committees in various roles, predominantly as Treasurer but also as President. Barry has considerable global experience, having practiced extensively in London, Singapore, Moscow and Indonesia.

Kevin Hewitt
Marketing
Kevin runs management consulting firm Capitalis and has been involved in philanthropy over the last seven years, raising funds and awareness for numerous deserving causes.
Michael Heffernan
Michael is a practicing financial advisor who has previously served on the board of the Alister McClean foundation raising funds for disabled children. He has been a member of the Applecross Parish Council for the past six years.
Michael Barry
Michael is a retired accountant who has held voluntary roles on various financial advisory boards, hospital boards and management roles in homes for the aged. Michael brings his accounting experience and committee expertise to the project and hopes to bring about change through education and promoting sustainability.
Warren Keating
Warren is a practising public accountant, running his own accounting business. As a committed volunteer, Warren has contributed over the past 30 plus years to numerous sporting, community and charitable groups in the capacity of treasurer or auditor.
Kathryn Keating
Kathryn is a practice manager in Warren’s accountancy practice. A mother of four, Kathryn has a strong belief in family and the importance of community. Kathryn values the opportunity that AA4A gives less privileged children to develop and learn in family based structures.
